Realtime sound installation

Commodore Amiga 2000 computer, built-in speaker
random generated software development

Bird calls are synthesiszd by our computer program. To emulate the song of a single bird, these calls are put together, modified and played by the computer based on random numbers.

This installation was first shown at the Heartbreak Hotel project, Thun (ch), in 1999, where the computer sound source was put in an empty hotel room close to the open window. Curious singing birds on the outside would come by and start mimicking back the imitation.
